Shilee Mirghahari

A woman with dark curly hair wearing a bright green checked dress, sitting on a blue plastic chair with her hand resting on her chin, in front of a white wooden door.

Shilee Mirghahari is a self-taught, multifarious artist whose work blends whimsy, cultural heritage, and an exploration of the human form. Her art is defined by a playful, childlike imagination paired with color palettes typical of traditional Persian art. A key element of Shilee’s artistic vision is her fascination with abstracting the human form, particularly the beauty of Middle Eastern noses.

As her practice evolves, Shilee expands into concrete sculpture and the intricate art of weaving, using yarn made from bio-materials such as human hair—a material she crafts herself.

She is currently based in Chicago, IL.
